Awase-dō

Kata

Kata is structured movement that anyone can learn, but requires a skilled practitioner to be true, energized Awase-dō.

The first eight kata are standing kata that incorporate the attack, connection, getting off the line of attack, and entering in to the attack, which brings the attacker to the ground.

The guide follows the attacker to the ground, remaining connected. On the ground, the attack continues, which leads the guide to control. When the attacker feels reconnection in control, the attacker submits.
